Google leads $145 million investment in InMobi's Glance and Roposo social platforms

 VentureBeat reports that Google has led an investment of $ 145 million in InMobi's social media start-ups Glance and Roposo.In recent years, there have been a number of technology unicorns in the Indian market, such as InMobi valuation of more than $ 1 billion.Under Google's leadership, the new investment is expected to play a further role in the Indian technology market.


First introduce Glance,which is a personalized content platform based on the lock screen interface.In March 2019, InMobi created it as a separate department.Then in November, the company acquired Roposo, a video-sharing social media platform .

The funds used in the investment came from Google's India Digital Fund ($100 million), and the company is also the largest investor in the round of financing (and current investor Mithril Partners.

As an AI-driven lock screen feed platform, Glance can provide GE Xinhua content promotion in multiple languages on Android smartphones, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bahasa.

In addition Glance Lockfeed also easy to see visual format, provides entertainment, sports, fashion, news, and other types of meteor content.

Glance said it would use the money to expand its technical team, launch new services on the platform, strengthen brand building, and expand in key markets such as Asia and the United States.

Caesar Sengupta, vice president of Google, said in a statement: in this day and age, there are still many Indian users difficult to find reading content based on their own language and can safely use the service, which greatly limits the relevant value the internet can create for them.

It is reported that Glance has more than 115 million active users a day, and the average daily use time of 25 minutes, meaning that it is expected to become one of the world's largest digital consumer platform.

As for the hot Roposo short video platform in India,its monthly active users have more than 33 million, the average daily consumption time of more than 20 minutes, and there are more than 10 languages of a variety of types of genre content.As of November 2020, Roposo has been downloaded more than 103 million times on the Google Play App Store.

Finally, InMobi Group will focus on advertising marketing and data content platform, set up India Bangalore / United States San Francisco dual headquarters,with more than 1400 employees around the world.
